I've been following the new SRT Viper, and the Chevrolet Corvette C7 for a while now. There's some things that i've heard floating around the internet that im not very found of about these two cars. Like a V8 viper and a V6 corvette. The whole point of a viper is a mad V10, and the whole point of the corvette is a muscular V8!
Let's move on before i start rambling to badly.
Yes I know that is a viper SRT-10 and a corvette C6, it fits the mode of what i'm talking about if you read my rambling above the picture. Which you might want to read, other wise you might not understand what im talking/rambling/complaining about.
I'm going to split up each section of the car now.
Let's start with . . .
Power trains
The last gen viper (called the SRT-10 not the Viper technically), and the current gen Corvette C6 have very well known power trains. If you don't know much know much about these two cars, you probably only know the viper has a more European super car like engine, as the corvette has a american muscular engine.
To be specific the Viper has a 8.4-Liter V10, the Corvette on the other hand has a 6.2-Liter V8. Both have there engines in the front, both have a manual transmission (Available automatic in the Corvette), and Rear Wheel Drive in the back. Both have terrible rides, and both are distinctively american.
In the rumor mill for the next gen version of each of these car we have something much different. In the rumor mill we have a civilized well riding Viper with a V8, and a mid-engined V6 corvette.
As you can see in this corvette spy photo, it is not mid-engined. In this viper spy photo it has a similar design as the former. The corvette and the viper both have the same recipe listed above. Except we can't tell what power trains they have.
I can see a V6 corvette and a V8 viper in Europe, but not in america. Purist, including me will have an even longer rant about it than i am having right now. Hey there will be hundreds of little blogs that pop up and troll about it. The corvette and viper need to stay true to there recipes and keep the mad V10 and muscular v8. Also the next viper needs to be a lot faster then the current one, as anyone who has ever heard of the Corvette ZR1 knows the next one will be even faster.
Naming issues
First we had the extremely crude Dodge Viper.
Then we had the more civilized Dodge SRT-10.
It wasn't very civilized.
Now the Viper is being called the SRT Viper.
Let's start with the corvette.
First you had the Chevrolet Corvette c1
Then you had the Chevrolet Corvette c2
Then you had the Chevrolet Corvette c3
Then you had the Chevrolet Corvette c4
Then you had the Chevrolet Corvette c5
Then you had the Chevrolet Corvette c6
The Corvette has a longer and more stable history. Historically it's also the better car.
If it was my money i'd buy the Viper.
